Restless Romance Pt-1

It was Midnight. The sun was setting down slowly. The apartment was becoming louder when time goes on. The people are not silent nowadays. They just find some trouble or find any mistakes in other’s life and point it out. John was sitting and playing video games while Ada, his mother, was cooking some food.

Ada: JOHN!! Come over here and help me! You just stay there and play, and I do the cooking; that’s not fair. Now let me watch some shows, and you cook.

John: Just give me a minute. I’ll finish this mission and come. Just a minute.

Ada: JOHN!

John: And…….I am done. Now, what can I do for you, my lady?

Ada: Just stir this for a while.

John: Okay, my lady!

John was stirring the food while Ada was trying hard to change the channel, and she calls John.

Ada: John, can you help me, dear?

John: Now what happened? Is the T.V remote the issue?

Ada: (Shakes her head) Yes! I told you to change the remote and also where is the money that I gave you?

John: Umm……I gave it to uncle James. But I didn’t see him after that.

Ada: Oh, great! Another 10 dollars gone. How many times do I have to tell you, kid? Don’t give money to James. He is a crook. And why do you give money to him? Why can’t you go and buy the remote?

John: The real problem is if I go outside, I might go and buy something that I don’t need. And why can’t you go? I am too young, and you are too old.

Ada: You say too old; I can do things that you can’t do.

John: Like what?

Ada: I can cook, I can “buy things that I need,” not the useless things and a lot more. I can sing too.

John: Yeah, I’ve known about your cooking, Mac n Cheese every day, and you say, “Buy things that I need.” Things like what comb, water bottle we have tons of them here.

Ada: Yeah, I buy extra because we don’t want to buy another one when one gets destroyed.

John: Was that a joke or are you being serious now? Cause if that’s a joke, tell me when to laugh and when to stop.

Ada: But can you sing and play guitar at the same time.

John: That is a talent that I do not possess. But I know you can do it. But what is the song that you always sang to me when I was crying? Can you sing me that song again?

Ada: I’m too old to sing songs.

John: C’mon Ma, for me.

Ada: Nope, only if you buy the remote now I will sing it.

John: Give me ten dollars; I’ll buy it now!

Ada gave John 10$, and John ran towards the shop and bought the remote. John was so happy that his mother will sing him that song because she never usually sings, but when she sings a song, it feels so satisfying. Especially when she sings the song that she sang to John. It is so good. But when John reaches home. She was asleep. John went near her and set up the blanket, and he kisses her head.

It was the next day, and John woke, and when gone to the kitchen, he saw a not-telling “I have an important work. I’ve made you breakfast.” John ate breakfast and walked down the street. He was thinking a lot of things. He felt he needs to buy a car, a big house, a dog, and he wanted to not make his mom suffer.

John: (Thinking: Why does she work so hard for me? I hate it when she does that, sacrificing everything for me. I am supposed to do that, not her. I want to make her happy, but I don’t have the money to do that)

Charlie: Still daydreaming, huh?

John: Yeah, it’s so hard to get money. I’ve been in this place for what 3 years. I don’t know and still have a lot of debt.

Charlie: You know there are many jobs out there other than cooking in a fast food place.

Customer: Hey, can I get someone on the counter?

John: Yes, coming, sir!

Customer: So, can I have the best Burger you have?

John: Sir, all our burgers are the best in town, so what do you prefer?

Customer: I don’t know you’re the expert you tell me.

John: How about a classic burger? Like the cheeseburger.

Customer: You think that’s the best Burger you got?

John: Yeah, it’s one of the best in the town.

Customer: So I’ll get 4 cheeseburgers.

John: Anything else?

Customer: No, that will be it.

John: That will be 4 dollars and 48 cents.

Customer: Here you go, and have a great day!

Charlie: That’s a nice man, I see; I haven’t seen a man like that for years here. You know when I was in college there were a lot of good guys, the sexy ones.

John: Yeah, I shouldn’t have messed everything in my college and get expelled.

Charlie: Hey, don’t worry. We will make a good couple, you know that.

John: Nah, bro, I am not in for a romance right now.

Charlie: Your loss, you won’t get a better chance than now.

John was having a typical day. Flipping burgers, eating, drinking, thinking of his future, and getting disappointed after what he turned out to be. A disappointment, but his mother tells him that he is not a disappointment. He means his whole life to her. That haunts him. His mother loves him very much and trusted him, and he feels like he betrayed her. It was evening, and John finished his shift and was going home. He saw someone was trying to change the tire. He wanted to help them.

John: You need a hand, mate?

Stranger: It will be so helpful.

John: Hey, I’ve seen you somewhere. You are the man who asked for the cheeseburgers, right?

Stranger: Yeah, I know you.

John: What should I do?

Stranger: Just help me hold the tire.

John: On my count 1…2…3…Pull! That will do for now.

Stranger: I appreciate it mate! My name is Marcus.

John: John, So where are you from?

Marcus: I just moved here with my family.

John: Oh, I live here. That’s my home.

Marcus: So we are neighbors.

Ada comes from the house, sees John, and tells them about the neighbors; John tells Ada that Marcus and his family are their neighbors.

Marcus: Hello!

Ada: Hi

They both were still by telling each other hi and hello. John also stood there watching the both of them.

John: Is there a problem?

Ada: No, there is no problem.

Marcus: Yeah, no problem.

John: So, mom, I am hungry.

Ada: Yeah, hungry.

John and Ada went inside, and John was looking at Ada’s face, and she was still blushing. John wanted to ask Ada.

John: Mom! Did you know Marcus?

Ada: Hmm?

John: What are you doing here? You haven’t started making anything. I am so hungry.

Ada: What?

John: Oh, forget it! I am going to sleep. Are you gonna watch the T.V?

Ada: No…

John:(Thinking: I don’t know why she is acting so weird. She doesn’t work like this? Who is Marcus? Where is he from?)Anyways I’ll find it out tomorrow.
